1 January 2017 A Better Human World

Here comes the New Year, hopefully less killing of fellow humans for earth! A tall order for them, lots of work to develop their thinking ! They have been killing each other for too long, a habit that is hard to kick.

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2016

I completed my 12th marathon on 4 December 2016, Sunday. This year, the race started half an hour earlier at 4.30am at the same start point at Orchard Road. I reached the event start point early and was in the holding pen by 4 am. I was feeling relax and ready to go, but I did not have high hope as I knew my training was really inadequate. I started about 7 minutes after the elite runners were off. As usual it was a slow first few kilometres, in fact I completed the first 10 km in about 1 hour 3 minutes plus. No problem at all for the early part of the race. Reached half way point in 2 hours 20 minutes 12 Seconds. My poor fitness began to be obvious, I started to feel tired and pace dropped drastically after the half way point. The body started to feel so weak and I kept having the urge to walk instead of running. It was a dreadful feeling, I have to struggle to keep moving at a very slow pace. My pace dropped from 7 plus minutes to 9 minutes to even 11 minutes plus per km around

Human should start exploring beyond the orbit around earth

Human should really start exploring beyond their comfort zone, the orbit around earth. A good start would be going to the moon and back regularly, it would solve many of the technical space technoloy needed for further space travel. If human do not make this move soon, they will always be stuck with primitive space travel technology. If they cannot solve short space travel issue, they can forget about getting to mars and back. It is naive to think that they can actually leapfrog the technology needed in space travel. There is saying that says "learn to walk properly, before you attempt to run" ! Everyone know that space is a harsh environment, human are weak phyiscally and need all the basic elements to survive. So there are so many things they need to get right before further exploration can proceed. Get the basic reliable launch technology right for regular launch, at least launch within hours of a initial mission. Get the basic space craft to survive for 30 days, recy

23 days to Singapore SCB Marathon

Training has not been going well for my marathon race on 4 Dec 2016, mileage is too low. I will definitely has to take it easy for the run, will hit the wall early. Just has to push on no matter what happen on the day itself. Will try to prep myself mentally to fight against my weak body and I am targeting to finish with 5 hours 15 minutes. I plan to run the 1st half much faster than the 2nd half, probably 2 hour 15 min vs 2 hour 45 min.

Human need to venture further than the Moon

I believe the furthest any human had ever been is the moon during the Apollo programme. Human need to venture further than that. Mars is little too far away with our current technical abilities. There is a need to build the technical expertise require for space travel, the current launch propulsion system is too energy consuming and waste a great deal of energy. The system is too unreliable, unstable and too primitive. The resources is there but wasted on other unworthy purpose. Stop killing each other and you will find the time and resources to venture into space. Human need to build something much bigger than the space shuttle. But how to build the spacecraft in space ? Propulsion is always a problem for spacecraft getting off the surface of earth, currently there is no spacecraft that can take off and go into orbit without booster rocket.

Newton Run 32 km

Completed the Newton 32 km run this morning in 3 hours 48 min 52 secs.  Started out the 1st km in 6:34 and picked up speed to 6:12, 6:02, 6:15, 6:02, 6:06, 6:08, 6:08, 5:55, 6:00, finished 10km 1:01:25. Slowed in the 2nd 10 km to about 1 hour 5 min and finished 22km in 2 hour 22 min. The slow down was expected as my training has been up to about 20km only. Muscle cramps started about  23 km returning from East Coast going into Marina East, had to stop and stretched the thigh muscle a number of times. Completed the last 10 km in 1 hour 28min plus, full muscle cramp near the last 100m of the run. Clearly, a lack of mileage clocked ! Luckily the weather was kind, could have been an even less ideal condition. Wondering how to tackle 42.195 km on 4 Dec 2016!

State of mind

The mind is a unique component of any human beings, it determine how they live their life. It's very difficult for a normal human being to control it, they are usually affected by their emotional side that take control from time to time. Human need to really understand how their emotional side kick in and how to control it to prevent it from taking control over their general well being. It can be really ugly when the mind influence a person to be very negative in his thoughts, to the extend that it can even end a life!

Education

Education is the passing on of knowledge from the people who supposingly know, to the people who need to know such as children and adults who require the knowledge to earn a living. Those who teach need to know how to pass on their knowledge and in a proper and interesting way. But sadly, the school and education facilities are lacking in many places. People in developed countries throw away so many books every so often, airlines should offer free space for charity donation of books to these countries that are in needs of such materials.

How to be truly space bound?

If you have ever witnessed the launch of a space bound rockets live or on any media, its spectacular with the associated sight and sound. But, is this the only way to leave the planet? It's a fuel guzzling exercise, this is why the rocket is so big, maybe 80 percent is meant for the propellant alone. It's such a waste of space and resources for the space mission. There has to be a better way of getting off the planet! How many people can travel in such transportation mode to space ? The most people getting off from the surface of earth on any mission is six on one of the space shuttle missions.

20.04 km run on 15 Oct 2016

Finally crossed the 20km mark today, covered 20.04 km in 2 hours 1 minute 33seconds, that's an average of 6:04 per km. This is slow for a runner but I am contented for now. Cannot ask for more if you do not treat your body well, have not been doing much other than running 15 to 20 km every week. I have a 32 km run coming up on 30 Oct 2016, so have to put in some mileage to get my body to ready for the run.

An Infinite Universe

Reading this phase anywhere will lead to the question of how big is the universe, and there are many different views. The limited knowledge that the conscious mind can handle, can hardly comprehend the enormous scope of this questions. If you think the universe is flat like a piece of paper, then it's ridiculous, you ignore the fact that it's probably omni directional. How can it be flat ? It's just too mind boggling for the even most powerful computer presently available, human mind can never be powerful enough to comprehend. Human need to first understand the working of their mind and body to get any further. They need to use what they know for a better cause than trying to get ahead of each other. The focus should never be the individual, human beings are inately selfish. By the way, what does mean when someone says the universe is flat?

What is out there beyond earth?

Human can only speculate due to their lack of advance technology! At the rate they are progressing, probably can never reach another world. The greater chances is that they kill themselves to extinction  before becoming an advance race. There is no possibility that any living beings would be able to find out more about the universe that they live in. It might be infinite in size, meaning you will never reach the edge! Human needs to understand that it is no use trying to out do your own kind, it's more meaningful and important to evolve as a race that is physcally and mentally more advance.

How much do human knows ?

Less than 1 percent ? In relation to the size of the known universe, probably less than 1 percent? Nobody can tell and answer this question. There are so much information that is waiting for us to discover them. What are we missing, from the Big Bang to a planet like earth? Imagine what goes on from the bang, probably bits and pieces coming together over long period of time to form the basic part of a planet. But, this is just probably speculation, usually a story is tell over time by adding more and more to it. It's just like a fairy tale, no one can verify. Human will never know, imagine someone started recording trillions of years ago ! But who, no one is there at the beginning?

32Km run on 30 Oct 2016 Sunday

Signed up for the Newton 32 Km run coming up on 30 Oct 2016. The last time I did it in 2014, I finished in 3 hour 29min. I am going to really take it easy this time, my training has been really short on distance lately. I am expecting to finish in about 3.5 hours and hope this will provide a good experience leading up to the 4 Dec SCB Singapore marathon.

Human need to start thinking

Human need to plan for their future, too many mouths to feed and depleting the earth's resources unnecessary. There is a need to develop the human mind to its fullest potential and at the same time maintain sanity. Human needs to control their emotions and do the right things. Stop fighting over petty issues and killing your own kind. Stop being greedy and wanting to control others. After all, you are all the same except your skill colour and stop disliking each others. People need to behave and work together to achieve a greater goal. Human need to tame their wild sides and behave like a civilised race. Human need to get out of their solar system and start exploring the greater beyond. Think more and stop fighting like a child.

Utilisation of the Human Mind

It is common knowledge that the average person uses little of the vast capacity of their mind. There should be a focus in schools to help students to think wide and far, in the hope of discovering the amazing ability of the mind! Everything that human needs to know and learn is already there, just waiting to be discovered. There is no possibility that human will actually create anything out of anything, all things are already there and actually waiting for their turns to be utilised by humans. But, humans need to control their urge for power, greed and evil thoughts that they cannot avoid. Human are too weak in the mind, they are easily manipulated and controlled by their own kind. The majority of humans cannot think independently and critically. They still have a long way to go to become an advance living race.

Harnessing And Storing Energy

One of the biggest issue facing human in their quest to explore is bringing with them energy on the move. Especially when they venture into space, the emptiness of space makes it extremely difficult to harness energy on the move. Is there invisible material that can be converted to energy l? Can a fission or fusion reactor work in space ? There is a need to work on storing the energy or generating it   when it's needed with materials that can be source with relative ease.

Mind Control and Optimization

Human need to control their actions through their thinking. 99 percent of the human do not think properly and make good use of their most powerful organ in their body. There are a lot about the human potential that are waiting to be discovered. The world will have world peace the day they start thinking right and control their mind. There are are many aspects of a human that are in build and typical of a normal human. It is very difficult for the mind to fight these in build quality!

SpaceX made History with 8th Launch of 2016

SpaceX continue with its record setting and made history with its 8th successful launch of 2016.  And the first stage also made a landing on its mobile robot ship in the Atlantic Ocean! This is a good thing that will spur the growth of the space exploration program throughout the world.

Space X 8th launch of Year 2016

The eight launch of year for Space X is scheduled for 14 Aug 2016, Sunday. This will be a mile stone for the company !

11.5km run on 30 July 2016 Saturday morning

Just finished a 11.5km run this morning in 1 hour 15min28sec. Started the run late at 8.50am, luckily the weather was not too hot. Trying hard to up my mileage now, 4 months to the SCB marathon on 4 Dec 2016!

Space X 7th launch of 2016

Yes, Spacex achieved its 7th launch of 2016 today, just 45min past midnight on 18 July 2016. And a successful landing of its first stage on land.  I think SpaceX equalised its most launches in a year, so the next launch will be a record breaking feat!

A United Earth Government, One Currency ?

We have seen this concept in friction story, cartoon, movie, is this our ultimate end ? I think earth should move towards a single entity, too much resources are wasted to fight and dominate each other. The amount of money wasted on weapon could have been used to feed the entire earth population. Even in the commercial space such as ,IT and financial services, the precaution taken by companies against fraudsters, hackers, is a heavy burden that is unnecessary. Greed and authority are 2 big bad traits of human, they are always fighting over such matters! Maybe it will take another thousand years of fighting to learn from their mistakes. Just like in the movies, "human is a primitive race, they will take time to learn"!

19.35km run on 9 July 2016 Saturday

I covered a distance of 19.35km this morning in 2hr4min40.9sec. It was a struggle for me, I have not run such a long distance for quite awhile.

Sub 4 hours target for Singapore Marathon 2016

The Singapore Marathon 2016 is 5 months away, I am targeting to complete in less than 4 hours. Will need to start training for it this month, have to cover up to 35km comfortably in less than 3hr 15min 2 weeks before the actual run. It is probably not extremely difficult to those who has done it before, but anyone capable of doing it has to be reasonably fit physically.

Singaporean at Goldcoast marathon 2016

Fang Jianyong finished the Goldcoast marathon 2016 in 2 hours 34min 32sec, 34th place overall.

Gold Coast Marathon 2016 and Yuki Kawauchi

Yuki Kawauchi finished 2nd at the Gold Coast Marathon 2016 this morning 3 July 2016, he was just 1 second behind winner Kenneth Mungara, the 42 year old runner from Kenya. This is Kawauchi best time in an overseas marathon and his first sub 2:10 since Dec 2014. Anyone reading this, should note that this man is a amateur holding a full time job and not a professional runner.

Ed Whitlock set a World age group half marathon record

Canadian Ed Whitlock set a world age group record in the 85-89 category for the half marathon on 24 April 2016, at the Waterloo, Milton Ontario. He covered the 21.1 km in 1 hour 50min 47sec, more than 9 minutes faster than the old record. He is still the only over 70 years old person on earth to run a sub 3 hours marathon as of today!

Space X 6th Launch of 2016

Yes, Space X successfully completed the company sixth launch of the year on the 15 June 2016. 2 satellites were deployed to GTO orbit, but the landing of the first stage boaster was a failure. There will be a break of one month before the next launch in mid July 2016. I think the next launch will be a milestone for Space X, the 7th launch of the year and the most ever in a year. If the next launch goes well, I think this will be a break through year for the company, at least a dozen launches for the full year! Looking forward to the maiden launch of the Falcon Heavy later in the year.

Ran 7.03km on 11 Jun 2016 Saturday

Just finished a 7.03km in 40min45sec according to my Garmin 620 watch, averaging 5min48sec per km. Been struggling with my runs lately, not getting in enough mileage. Need to be more relaxed during runs and rebuild my overall fitness by doing exercise that strengthen the core muscles. Must start to do longer runs to prepare for the annual Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. I am aiming for a 4hr30min which will be a new personal best. I did 4hr59min27sec in Dec 2015.

Human need to control their population

Human population is growing at a rate that is too fast, they will run out of resources feeding the population. The increase is taking place in countries that are the least develop and it will only slow down their development. They need to educate the population and manage their population growth. This is a real problem in all the least develop and developing countries, but how many of these countries are really taking action to improve their citizens life, are not obvious. Those with a big population and high population growth rate, continue their rapid population growth. They will face more social and resource issue as they face the reality of having to feed and provide jobs to these extra mouths.

Space X 5th Launch of 2016

Space X successfully completed its 5th launch of 2016 about 1 hour 10min ago and at the same time recovered its 4th stage one rocket or its 3rd recovery at sea on the drone ship. It main mission completed with the deployment of the Thaicom 8 communication to geostationary orbit.

Regulatory Agency Needs Some Oversight Too

Those checking on the public at large need governing as well, they are the one no body dare to check!   Those at the top need to adhere to strict guide and open scrutinisation to remain relevant to serving the public governance. It's always a challenge to not contradict the aim to remain neutral and righteous in their action. Human nature is just too weak to resist all the temptation that constantly surround them.

Running a sub 4 hour marathon

Running a 4 hour marathon is my goal for the December 2016 Singapore Standard Chartered Marathon! I need to cut 47min 26sec from my previous best set in Dec 2014. It's quite a big margin and I need to run about 1 min 7 sec faster per km over the entire 42.195km. It's not a extremely fast time but my overall body fitness will need to be improved to take the pounding better during the race.

Why is the human world facing hygiene issue?

The world is always facing virus attack every few years due to their bad hygiene issue. Developing countries need to educate their people basic hygiene to avoid such recurrence in the future. They will need to provide adequate basic modern toilet facilities and drinking water to its people. They need to really do more to control their population growth and educate its people.

Space X 4th Launch of 2016

Space X Falcon 9 launched on 6 May 2016, for the fourth time this year. It launched a communication satellite for Japan into geostationary orbit and also successfully landed the first stage on the drone ship "Of course I still love you" in the dark in the Atlantic Ocean. This is the third landing of the first stage and the 2nd time on a drone ship. Eventually Space X is going to reuse the recovered first stage to launch a subsequent mission, founder of Space X Elon Musk hope to cut the launch cost drastically in the future. Musk ultimate aim is to colonise Mars.

Human scheduled activities

Human has a habit of doing things according to a schedule and everyone come together at the same time causing problems such as traffic jam, congestion, long queues, stampede and others. When you look at all these problems, what strike you as obvious?

Human Self Inflicted Problems

Why the human world seems to be troubled constantly? Who is responsible for creating all these pain for humans? The Answer is human, for all non natural occurring disaster. The origin is always our "mind", the most powerful and almost out of the body part of the human. It is the mind that direct you to do what you do, so it's important for human to take control of the mind! Human instinct is to provide for themselves to survive, they do what it takes to survive. They are selfish and do not care even after realising the harm they are causing to others. Actions will be taken when it threaten their well being. Human need to learn to understand and work to build a relationship with each other, among countries , to dispel hostility among them. It take up so much of their resources and time, just trying to fight each other.

How to extend our mental capability

Can human transmit signal or message using our brain wave ?Is this the way to communicate with the unknown and beyond ? Many people would sincerely want to believe that human can go beyond what they can do. There are so many small little things they do that do not make sense. Human need to think unselfishly, beyond personal gain and needs, to achieve greater things. It is very difficult for human to think and act unselfishly, they tend  to want all things to themselves. They have the capacity but not the preserverance to actually do a lot of good acts for the good of all. Human will need to train their their children to think and put a framework around education in school to incorporate Thinking class into the cirriculum. They need to guide their mind and try their best to prevent it from picking up the bad thinking. The mind is all powerful but barely reach even their minimum capacity for most people.

Space X 3rd Launch of 2016 and Successful Drone Ship Landing

SpaceX succeeded in its attempt to land on a drone ship, Of Course I Still Love you in the Atlantic Ocean. The mission carried a Dragon spacecraft on a resupply mission to the ISS and also a experimental inflatable module built by Bigelow Aerospace. The landing of the First stage is the 1st after 4 failed attempt, this is unprecedented as its technically difficult to land on a platform just slightly larger than a basketball court. The next Space X lannch is in mid April, if it launch before April 21, it would have set a new shortest turnaround record for the company.

Drones will bring problems

What you see in science friction movie will become reality, drones chasing people down or creating havoc. Laws will not stop them, and these being use by the wrong people will cause headache to the common people and countries.

Space X next flight

Space X will be launching its next mission in 9 days and will be carrying a experimental inflatable module by Bigelow Space company to be attached to the ISS. We need a boost to earth space program which has been slow moving, due to human more urgent fighting against each other. Space X is the only bright spot that would change the dynamics in space exploration. If it's achieve anything more than 9 flights this year, it would be a break through for human kind. Remember it's a private company!

Should human control population growth

Yes, if you want a quality population, whereby each individual is being educated to a certain level in order to achieve their full potential. Basically, all humans'  problems are self inflicted! Humans need to fully understand their own problems, otherwise it will always be a vicious circle that go round and round. One problem will lead to another before the initiate one can be resolved! But it's easier said than done, even the most educated of the human kind cannot overcome their own emotional issues! The human kind is a primitive race after all, they will probably fight on for another thousand years! They might even destroy each other before they resolve their own issues!

Humans Need to Put Aside Differences

Humans need to put aside their differences in order to progress meaningfully going forward. 34 lives were taken on 22 Mar 2016, in Brussels, Belgium in a bomb explosion. Too much effort being spent to guard against each other, why did human end up in such a pathetic state!

13.67 km run on 18 Mar 2016 Saturday

Started the run at 8 am on Saturday morning, started slow as usual, has been finding it hard to motivate myself to run well lately. First time running more than 13 km this, 13.67km in 1hr 26min 12sec. It was a slow and easy run just to clocked up some mileage.

Year 2026

What will it be like in 2026 ? Will earth be able to launch 200 space flights a year ? Has human depleted all known petroleum source ? Are human beings still killing each other ? Well hopefully by then we already know more about the human mind, and learn to live together at peace and start our journey to really explore beyond Earth. It's a huge expanse of unknown out there waiting for us to discover! Stop fighting your own kind and be a real space explorer!

Is trying to out do each other a good thing ?

In the current human world, everyone is trying to out do each other, so that we can earn more money. Money can buy you all the material things that you ever crave for ! But, is the a good thing for the human race ? On the material side of things, it's just human nature to be greedy which is the breeding ground for a lot of evil deeds of human.

2nd launch of SpaceX Falcon 9 in 2016

SpaceX successfully completed its second mission of the year and place a SES satellite on its way to a GTO orbit above Southeast Asia. The landing of the stage one ended up in failure as advised before the mission. This is the 22nd mission for Falcon 9, with its nine Merlin engines. This is a unprecedented feat before SpaceX did it 2007 with Falcon 1, but nowadays it goes unnoticed sometimes that this is a privately funded company with a staff strength of maybe 5,500. It's continue success will take human beyond agencies based space programmes which used up so much tax payer money! It's already putting many agencies scratching their head for a face saving solution probably! Let's look forward to a successful landing of the stage 1 on the drone ship in the next mission!

Putting a Bigger Space Station into orbit

Human need to create a more robust and bigger permanent facility in space. It would be good if it can be further away, at least 10,000 km away from Earth. It must be built of material that can withstand random hits by small passing objects without killing all onboard. The facility should be able to be self contain for at least 10 person for one year and emergency escape transport to take them back to Earth at any time. Human must start treating near earth space as their own backyard, otherwise there is no way their space travelling capability will improve.

3.2km run at the stadium on 20 Feb 2016 Saturday

Ran 8 laps of 400m each at the stadium, total 3.2 km in 15min56sec. My initial plan was to try to run 24 laps of about 2min2sec for each lap and try to break my pb of 50min21sec for the 10km run. My fitness is far from ideal, so will have to try again another day. Slowest lap 2min5sec and fastest lap 1min48sec.

Private Space Venture

Recently, private space venture seems to generate more news than national space agencies. When such topics arises, the focus automatically falls on Space X ! And indeed it has been in the news, most recently on Jan 17, 2016 launching a satellite but failing to land on a barge in the ocean. It succeeded once on land in Dec 2015, becoming the 1st rocket to land its 1st stage after delivering a payload into orbit. Elon Musk is working to cut the launch cost by up to 40 percent by recovering the first stage of his rocket for reuse. It is indeed a remarkable achievement, all this done with private fund. Imagine what would have happen if he has the fund that some space agency has ? But then, he might not be that hungry for success if he has funding like those agencies. Imagine landing a 10 storey high rocket with the power it has, it's almost unimaginable! Space X is ramping up rocket production this year, next lunch is 2-3 weeks away and it will lunch a rocket every 2-3 weeks. If it la

Falcon 9 Landing on Barge Jan 2016

Saw the landing of Falcon 9 on the barge, the main issue is clearly the decelation was too fast too late and the engine control burn. They need to reduce the speed of rocket coming down a little more and I guess the main engine is too powerful to control it like on a fighter jet vector trust engine. If the control of the engine is better, I guess it should work. I think the flow of the fuel to the engine can be slower to reduce the thrust of the engine thus reducing the speed of the rocket coming down. I hope the deceleration of the engine start at least 10 seconds earlier to allow more time to reduce the speed further. Another way is to build at least 4 robotic arms that have elongated curve surface that extend up to the rocket when it's about 1 metre from the landing pad that can at least prevent it from toppling over.

4km Run at the stadium 23 Jan 2016

Started my run at 7.09am this morning at the stadium. Initial plan was to run at a constant speed of around close to 2 min per 400m lap for 25 laps. I completed the 1st lap in 2:09, 2nd lap in 2.10 and I was feeling I was running quite fast. At this point I figure out that there was no way I can run close to 2min lap for 10km, I set myself a new target of 2.06 to 2.09 per lap. I ran the 6th lap in 2.06 and the 7th in 2.08 and I was already feeling tired. Eventually I ran my 9th lap in 2.05 and decided to end with 10th lap which I did in 1.47. My body was just all messed up and fitness is just not there. After a short rest, I decided to run a 1 lap and clocked 1.37. Called it a day and went back home. Need to run more, my mileage is too low right now. Got to keep pushing myself to improve this year !

A Ninth Planet in our Solar System

Scientist think that there is a ninth planet out beyond Pluto which was down graded to a dwarf planet, based on their recent findings. Anything is possible because our knowledge is so limited right now. We rather spent time guarding against each other and killing our fellow humans. Things are out there waiting to be discovered, they have been there far longer than us, so it's a matter of time before we get to know them. Imagine what we can do if we channel our time and resources to expanding our knowledge instead on defences against our own kind. Well, we will get to our ninth planet soon!

Overcoming the limitation of the mind

Our mind is very powerful, so much more powerful than anyone can imagine. So when the mind is contaminated, it can become scary. Just like what is happening around the world, those who turn "bad" make this world a miserable place to live in. They are so self centre and seems like nothing can change them. They are so powerful that they can make so many people obey their order. And it seems like there are so many of them out there trying to create trouble every where. How to change the mind set of all these people ? I think it has to start with education from young, and parents and teachers should set a good example. And we must start a subject call thinking class, teaching each child to think in a positive way. Human is ultimately a complicated living things that are easily influence and cannot think logically. Our so called rational ways do not apply to every individual, so no matter how we perfect our teaching, there will be exceptional cases. Life is after all not pred
